The dishes are made of durable porcelain that is scratch-resistant and won't leave marks from flatware use. However, the square shape of the dishes makes it easier to accidentally bang an edge of the plates if you’re not careful. The plates have a slight ridge around the edges, and the dishes have a circle on the bottom, which some people may not prefer. Still, it does not detract from the beauty and quality of this set. The set is dishwasher safe and stacks fine in most dishwashers. Unfortunately, this set does not come with any additional serving pieces. So if you’re looking for matching serving pieces, you will need to buy them separately.
