The light requires 8 standard C-batteries and is not rechargeable, although there are options for the rechargeable battery and charger. The grip is a pistol grip only and it's heavier than some expected. In terms of brightness, it has received high praise and makes diving and fishing at night much more enjoyable. However, the switch could be more comfortable.
